This year was very challenging to me. Being part of the Academic Office as Academic Assistant is a big responsibility and even though I wasn’t working full-time, working in the mornings with a two year old had it’s hardships. 🙂 I am very glad I was able to help in this area and especially that I was able to get to know the students much better than in other years, but I also grew a deeper appreciation for working moms.
There were some days when I was gone for 8 hours, working on campus or talking with my Bible School girls. Once I got home, it was time to feed the kids supper and start to put them down. But I wasn’t able to make any warm food for lunch or supper on those days and the dishes and other cleaning had to wait too. It is exhausting to work and take care of the house and children. I can’t imagine when someone does this every day, and not just some days. I always thought those women are superheroes, but now I honestly don’t know how they do it.
But despite it being hard, it was an honor, privilege, and blessing. It is good to get tired in doing something you love, especially when it has value. It’s amazing to see the students grow and mature. We are so proud of them!
Our kids are also growing and maturing. 🙂 JJ will go to preschool in September, Joshua will stay in preschool and the girls will start a new school year. All of them changed so much this year, but especially Joshua. He started to be more open, he started to talk to people, enjoy preschool, and he started to have more and more friends. We are so glad to see the big and small changes in our children. Raising them is a challenge at times for sure (sometimes more so than other times), but it is always worth the effort.
We are grateful to God for all His blessings. We are grateful that He never changes and we know He loves us with an unfathomable love. Our circumstances don’t have to define our mood, our attitude, and we are able to stay joyful in spite of anything that may happen around us. This is all thanks to Him!
As summer is around the corner, our prayer is that we will be able to spend quality time together as a family.
