Dear Friends,
Amy turned 10 years old last Monday! I can’t believe she reached double digits! She asked for an orange chocolate cake, and while I love baking (and I bake several times a week for a decade now), I’ve never made orange chocolate cake before. Well, I loved it so much, I already made a second one since then, but instead of orange buttercream frosting, I used chocolate pudding with orange zest instead. I prefer that one, because it’s WAAAY less sweet. 😀
You can tell it’s cold outside and we are inside most of the time from the level of excitement a cake brings to my life. 😀 Spring, we are awaiting your arrival!
My parents came to celebrate Amy’s birthday, although they didn’t come inside, we were able to spend some time in our yard together. They brought many gifts to us and special gifts to Amy. 🙂 We are very thankful to be able to see them a couple of times a month, even if it’s just for a short time, and just outside. Hopefully we will be able to have them over for real sometime this year!
We were also able to video chat with Chris’ parents. Interestingly enough, the cold weather hit there almost the same time it did here, although it’s been even colder there these days.
The kids were so happy to see Néni (grandma) and Grandpa. We are grateful for technology that allows us to keep in touch!
On a very sad note, my sister’s mom died recently. She was a very sweet lady, loved by many. While it’s never easy to lose someone, it was especially hard because her death was sudden and due to COVID restrictions, it wasn’t easy to see her in the hospital. Please pray for the grieving family. There are no words that can express our grief.
