Our Joy Comes from Him

Dear Friends,

This past month a lot has happened in the world. We had a lot of talks with the kids about war and what it means. There are many things we don’t understand and are unsure about. We don’t know what will happen in the next few months. But again and again, we are reminded of God’s faithfulness, goodness, love, and how He never changes.

This is a sad time we live in. None of this war is bearable. The circumstances are heartbreaking. We can’t even imagine the hardships the Ukrainians are going through, and yet even the little we understand seems too much to bear. So how can we still have joy? It’s not because we are ignorant to what is going on, and not because we don’t care. We ache with the Ukrainians and we mourn with them. But we also know that the King of kings and the Lord of lords holds everything in His hands. While it saddens Him more than any of us to see His creation suffer from the evil in the world, we know from past experience that He can and will use this to His glory. He can turn the worst situation into a blessing. We are praying that the surrounding countries would be a blessing to those fleeing Ukraine. We see Christians and non-Christians step up and sacrificially give to serve others. We see people being moved in ways we haven’t seen in our lifetime. May God use this horrible situation and make something beautiful out of it.

We are thankful for our family and friends, and these situations often make us appreciate what we have more. Please continue to pray for those who live in Ukraine or had to flee their homes. We can’t understand completely what they are going through, but we can look for ways to help.

On a good note, the weather is getting very nice during the day (still below freezing at night though). We are able to enjoy our yard again and I can’t wait to spend hours and hours outside once it gets really nice. The kids love to be out there and I love seeing the different ways they use their imagination as they play outside. I am so thankful for a yard the kids can enjoy!

Looking forward, the coming months are going to be busy, so you can pray for wisdom for us as we make decisions, figure things out, and try to see the opportunities God has prepared for us. We would also appreciate prayers for rest.

Let us know how we can pray for you! We always love to read your updates, and are thankful for your messages!
