Dear friends,
This past winter break we had great plans visiting with family, friends, going to places, but Joshua’s unexpected sickness changed our plans quickly. He got sick with fever and cough that made it hard for him to breathe on Christmas Day and he just now is getting fully over it, praise the Lord! So we had to cancel quite a few outings, but this gave us the opportunity to play with the girls different card and board games throughout the day every day. I must say, it was wonderful to just play with the girls and enjoy some family time this way. I don’t think we’ve ever done this before, but Haley is old enough now and it’s a lot of fun. Had we been gone most of the time, I don’t know if we would have realized how well Haley can play all sorts of games. So while we weren’t happy Joshua was sick, we were so glad to spend all this time with our children.
Joshua started walking. Slowly, but surely. He didn’t master it yet, but he definitely feels more comfortable going from one place to another now. He still crawls from time to time, but he is super proud to be walking most of the time.
Haley started preschool again, and while she still misses home, she loves it and loves her friends there.
Amy is finishing up her first semester in second grade and she is doing extremely well. We are so proud of her! Hungarian is not an easy language, and she grew up only hearing me and Chris speak in Hungarian yet she picked it up super fast and is speaking so well now.
Chris was able to take time off of work and rest a little and spend a lot of time with us. It was so good to have him home.
I decided to teach a verse a week to our kids, and we are planning on learning all the verses on our kitchen tile this year! It’s fun for them and it’s very useful to me, too. Often times I can just point at different directions in the kitchen and the kids know what they have to do. 🙂
Another thing I like to do is to read through my Bible every year. I started this in 2013 and sometimes I read it in less time, sometimes I need some more time. This year I had a nice amount of time each day to read, but just as I mentioned to a friend recently, unfortunately it doesn’t show on my actions. It’s a good reminder that knowledge is not the goal. Applying the knowledge is what we thrive for, and if it’s only in our heads, it does no good to anyone. So I need to work on putting into practice what I know, so it will show in how I talk, react, act, and live my life.
If you have prayer requests, please share it with us, we would love to pray for you!
